My son is uneasy about going off to college. Is this normal?

My son is going to a major university about 5 hours away. It seems like all of his friends are really excited about college and moving away. But my son is really kind of uptight about it, worrying if he will find new friends, etc. Is it normal for kids to have anxiety about heading off to college?
