That is definitely a cockroach. They can fly (not very accurately or far), which can be a bit disconcerting when it happens. Bad enough when they scurry around.

That looks like an adult American c-ckroach to me. For every one that you see, there's about 14 that you don't. Fun fact: they can fly.
