    I don't see any use as an adjective, although I suppose you could invent such a usage, as in this is my "anything" hat, I wear it for anything: rain, sun, bugs, wind. Otherwise it is a pronoun, a noun.

    It can be a noun, being a thing of any kind, it can be a pronoun standing for another noun, or if can be an adverb of degree, as in is this anything like finished?
