Does your college degree hold less weight the further away you look for a job as a recent graduate?

I have a degree from NY and might go to CA. Does my degree now have less pull or does this not matter? I guess this is a question for HR but personal anecdotes are welcome.

No, not unless the school is completely unknown or just regionally accredited. Today, anyone can look up a university to learn more about it. Millions of people go to university out-of-state and across the country and or move to other states.
