we dont really know...how could we...always think of rinky dinky music with very simple music...but honestly im sure there had to be at least some people during that time with a passion for music, and that played more complicated almost modern like music.

Medieval is generally from 500 - 1500, before the Renaissance. Modern is pretty much 20th century. Go read a little about each and you'll have your answer.
