    No. A consonant (like "s") alone is never a syllable.

    No, of course not. "Blossom" has 2 syllables. "Blossoms" also has 2 syllables. Some plurals are formed by adding a whole syllable; "fox" has 1 syllable but "foxes" has 2 syllables. But in most words, like "blossoms," the plural does not add a syllable.
