    Podiatrists go to 4 years of podiatry school and do a 3-year residency. They are actually real doctors and on the same level as MDs and DOs. They are required to pass board exams in podiatry.

    yes podiatrists had been pretty much shunned by the med professionals for years, esp orthopoedic surgeons,after lobbying extensively,they got recognition as MDs,able to issue prescrips & do surgery on ft & ankle as specialty.
