    Earth's axial tilt means that during summer in the northern hemisphere, the days get more sunshine.

    Actually that is only true for half the year.

    That is only true during the summer due to the tilt of the earth. (Spring equinox to Fall equinox.) During the winter the day light is shorter. (Fall equinox to Spring equinox.)
