"Undocumented" isn't even acceptable anymore and the current AP Stylebook preference is "immigrants in the US without legal permission". I wish I was making this up.

To make it seem as if 'illegals' are not doing something illegal by sneaking into the country. Even with the correct papers, I'll get stopped trying to bring a mango across the border.

It’s a purposeful attempt to prevent people from realizing that these are people engaged in a criminal, illegal activity. Imagine calling someone who pretends to be a surgeon, but isn’t, an undocumented doctor.
