If I'm sexually involved with someone, we always use a condom. Afterwards, I put water in the condom to make sure it doesn't have any holes or leaks. I just want to make sure I'm safe.

You would have to blow it up and stick it in the toilet to see if it had leaks. It's sort of like repairing a bike tire.

A bit paranoid, but if it makes you feel better then fine. Speaking from experience... When a condom breaks, it's quite obvious. He would be able to feel it when it happens and the thing would have a big tear in it.
