If something happened in a day and something happened in 24 hours, what’s the difference?

I left for work at 3:40 a.m. yesterday. That's "a day ago" but it is (as of this writing) 29 1/2 hours ago.

A day is 00:01 am to 23:59 pm, if something happens in 24 hours it is any 24 hour period ( ie 06:00 Tuesday to 06:00 Wednesday)

24 hours can involve more than a day I think
