Even with proper care, contact lenses (especially soft contacts) should be replaced frequently to prevent the build-up of lens deposits and contamination that increase the risk of eye infections.

If you wear contacts that are prescribed by an eye doctor, and if you follow the instructions for wearing and caring for them, they are not usually damaging to your eyes. I've worn contacts for over 40 years and never had any problems.
