12 people can dig a pond in 8 days. How many people can dig it in 6 days? Answer: 15

I don't think 96 divided by 6 is 15. Try 16. The pond requires 96 workdays (8*12) to complete. Also, 8*12=8*6*2=16*6. Same idea.

The answer given is not right. 16 people can dig a pond in 6 days.

    Another person is needed because 12/15 times 8 = 6.4 days but 12/16 times 8 = 6 days

    6 is ¾ of 8 You have ¾ the time to dig the pond, so you need 4/3 as many people. 12 × (¾)⁻¹ = 12×4/3 = 16 Another way to approach it: 12 workers × 8 days = 96 worker-days to dig the pond 96 worker-days / (6 days) = 16 workers
