If the operations were done in order from left to right as they are, it's 19. But PEMDAS must be followed -- that means multiplication before addition and subtraction. 3 × 2 must be done first, then subtract and add and you should get 9.

    Really? 10--6+5 = 9

    9 not 19

    The rules of operator precedence say you should perform multiplication/division first (left to right) and *then* addition/subtraction (left to right) So this expression is equivalent to: 10 - (3 x 2) + 5 = 10 - 6 + 5 = 4 + 5 = 9
