X^3 -8 / x^2 -2 very ambiguous. First guess x³ – (8/x²) – 2 second guess (x³ – 8) / (x² – 2) use (a³ – b³) = (a – b)(a² + ab + b²) ((s – 2)(x² + 2x + 4)) / (x² – 2) third guess....

It would be easier if it were x^2 - 4. You could then factor x-2 out from both terms.
