    Yes, but a 300 MPH fall will kill you just as dead as a 3000MPH fall.

    Once they drop the big external fuel tank, I don't think there is any more liquid oxygen or hydrogen for the main engines. https://aviation.stackexchange.com/quest... The smaller engines don't carry the fuel supply to slow down more than they need to.
