Why do I have an Adam’s apple?

I know I’m a female. My birth certificate says I’m a female. I have a vagina. And I get periods. I have other woman parts. But why do I have an Adam’s apple? I don’t have a deep voice. I speak softly. Is it normal for women to have an Adam’s apple?

EVERYONE has an Adam's Apple. It's a projection at the front of the neck, formed by the thyroid cartilage of the larynx; and it is often more prominent in men than it is in women. It permits air to get to the lungs and empowers us to talk.
