Why won’t my Drs office allow me to cut myself to collect a blood sample?

I’d much rather do this, I’m terrified of needles and avoid any blood tests that I’m able to get away with. I’d rather not know if anything is wrong with me than be tortured by a needle!

you are not afraid of something that takes a slice but are terrified of a little needle? Grow up.

If you do not want to know if anything is wrong with you why do you go to the doctors in the first place? You don't have anything better to do or any better way to spend your money? If you don't want to know don't go.

They want it collected directly from the vein without touching skin - that way it cannot be contaminated by anything.

Blood which has been exposed to the air (like one gets from a cut) is not a reliable sample. The exposure alters things like platelet count and to some degree changes the status of other counts needed by the doctor. Having been cut and stuck with a needle, I prefer the needle. It heals much quicker and leaves little to no scar. Cuts don't always tap a vein only, tend to get infected and can damage tissue that does not need to be damaged.
