Not the entire island, just a part of it.. It's causing quite of bit paranoia among ignorant people, and paranoia and ignorance can go viral very quickly. THAT's a lot more devastating than anything the eruptions are doing..

It has devastated about 5,000 acres. The big island is about 2,578,000 acres, so the lava has covered 0.2%. Not 2%, that's only one-tenth of 2%. That makes for a lot of news and interesting videos, but I would say that the rest of the island is okay.
