I had a blast at my prom. My daughter went to her senior prom with a bunch of friends and had a great. My son didn’t go to any dances dur8ng high school. I went to my HS graduation as did both of my kids. It is a nice way to end a chapter in your life, As you move into adulthood. Neither are mandatory.

I went to Commencement because it was the only way to get my diploma. But there was never a prom for me.

When I was at school (in the UK) only universities held graduations. The rest of us just left school and went on to whatever came next.

I went to graduation and the prom. Graduation was boring, but the prom was fun. But you don't have to do either one. Just notify the school (and your parents) that you won't be attending the graduation ceremony and ask how/when you can pick up your diploma.

NO... all I wanted was that piece of paper... I couldn't care less about the boring stupid speech's, walking over the stage etc... I picked mine up in the office and never looked back.
