Because you aren't being righteous for them, so they have to do it themselves.

In their minds, arrogance is a main factor. How they view themselves has to match up to how many people agree with them, and the more people who blindly agree with what they have to say for the sake of a potential relationship, or to be self-righteous themselves by trying to uplift an already uplifted woman, the more their idea of "I must be the best cause everyone is praising me" is fed.
