x-intercepts occur where y = 0. (x + 2)(3x + 2) = 0 x + 2 = 0 or 3x + 2 = 0 x = -2 or x = -2/3

The x-intercepts are the values of x that make y=0. x = -2, -⅔

The x intercepts are where y = 0. For a product (x + 2)(3x + 2) to be 0, you must be multiplying something by 0. In other words, either the factor x + 2 is 0, or the factor 3x + 2 is 0. And that tells you the values of x which make it 0.
