Is 17 hours too intense for 1st semester freshman?

Hi. From the looks of it, 17 hours looks intense, I know. I met with my adviser yesterday and he signed off on 16 credit hours for me, in fact, he literally signed for 15+ hours for everyone in my cohort. I'm a finance major with a pre med track.
