Because in most cases, it isn't the father walking out. It is either the mother forcing him out or she moves away with the kids.

Anyone who just walks out is to blame regardless of whether it's the father or the mother. There are far more mature way to handle a breakup and when it's done in such a way that children are abandoned it's a tragedy.

You CAN put it on the mother.....if it's the mother's fault. However, "walking out" means leaving with no explanation from the duties you put yourself into....ya, that's selfish.
