In late August 2009, I was in New York City and saw a huge wasp or hornet of some kind. It was black and yellow, about 3 inches long and as thick as my thumb. It was so big I could easily hear it audibly land on the ground. It landed on the sidewalk for a few seconds and then flew away. I don't remember any...
