Why do women and men go to bars/clubs/parties to meet the opposite sex when there are better quality men/women elsewhere?

I guarantee there are much better quality men/women at the university library or volunteering at a dog shelter/hospital/etc than at a bar or night club

people mimmick what they see on movies and TV. nobody ever gets laid meeting girls at church or the supermarket or doing volunteer work on MTV...
