Does it grammatically make sense to say “ Without you, we would not have improved nearly as much as we did” ?

    It is grammatically correct, AND it makes sense.

    We "could" not have improved nearly as much as we did today. Would is use as in the future. I would like to go with you or would you do me a favor.

    Yes, but there are also many alternatives. For example: Your participation (contribution) was essential for being able to improve as much as we did.

    yes. update 2 weeks later: I think I would prefer "we would not have improved nearly as much as we have”.

    Or you could put the 'without you' at the end!
