How come alcoholics are so much harder to get to get help then other conditions?

My Dad is an alcoholic.

    Stubbornness, being fed up with life and the people that disturb them. Plus the alcohol is very addictive.There may be dangerous withdrawal symptoms.

    Alcohol is literally everywhere, in restaurants, stores, street corners, everywhere. They don't have to go to a dealer or worry that the person is an undercover cop. Temptation is everywhere everyday. They just have to have the willpower to stop.

    The root of alcoholism (or any addiction) is an enormous ego. The ego doesn't want to admit it is wrong, on the contrary, it thinks it is extremely special.
