Before multiplying fractions, reduce. Express the product 3/4 * 8/9 * 15/16 in lowest terms. Solution: 3/4 * 8/9 * 15/16 = (1*1*5)/(4*1*2) = 5/8 How did they make 3/4 into 1/4, 8/9 into 1/1, and 15/16 into 5/2?

3/4 * 8/9 * 15/16 = 1/4 * 8/3 * 15/16 = 1/4 * 8/1 * 5/16 = 1/4 * 1/1 * 5/2 = 5/2

the rules of multiplying and dividing ... move the 3 over the 9, move the 8 over the 4, and deal with the 15/16 or 3 over 9 then 8 over 16, and deal with the 15/4
