    If a/3 = b/4 = c/7, then (a + b + c)/c = 2

    (a+b+c)/c = a/c+b/c+1 a/3 = c/7 a/c = 3/7 b/4 = c/7 b/c = 4/7 a/c+b/c+1 = 3/7+4/7+1 = 14/7 = 2

    I'll guess that's (a + b + c) / c on the right. Then: (a + b + c) / c = a/c + b/c + 1 But the given proportions can be rewritten: a/3 = c/7 ---> a/c = 3/7 b/4 = c/7 ---> b/c = 4/7 (a + b + c)/c = a/c + b/c + 1 = 3/7 + 4/7 + 1 = 2
