Is there any way to get wi-fi that doesnt require cabling or telephone wiring?

I moved into a new apartment. When my internet installation guy came he said there was no way to install internet since my unit didnt have the proper cable ports. At some point the complex completely plastered over where they were running the wiring before. So I can't get proper wi-fi without having work done...

Wi-fi doesn’t usually need cabling or telephone wiring. That’s the whole point of it. But perhaps you meant broadband instead. If so you can subscribe to a 4G data connection which you access via a standalone dongle you plug into a USB port on your computer. The service relies upon the mobile cellular phone networks; it can be expensive though if you shop around there are normally some very good deals with a large monthly data allowance. Or you can set up your mobile phone as a wireless hotspot and then use wifi on your computer to connect to that; it’s called “tethering” and again it can be very expensive if your mobile phone deal does not already include a very generous monthly data allowance at a good price. I live in the UK and currently get 40GB of data per month on my mobile phone for under £20 a month. I’ve never yet come close to using it all but it does help that I have a regular landline broadband deal at home with an unlimited data allowance which I access via wifi.

Time to be Sherlock Holmes. Ask your neighbours to show you their wiring. Find out where the feed comes into your apartment. It will be either from the hallway or through/under a window. I'm betting there is a cable termination point somewhere. Hall closets are a good place to look. If you can find some coax strung across either the top or bottom of the hall closet, you will be able to cut in and install a termination point on it without making any holes in the plaster. Check your outside wall too. Mine comes in under a window. You only need one access point. If you really draw a blank you can do what I did in a rental a few years ago. Run a length of coax wire through a suitable window with a termination point at both ends. Then get the company to hook up to that.

I live in my own house we have internet and wifi in the whole house through sim card wireless modem. U buy it ( together with a modem) at a shop which sells mobile phones and sim cards. U pay a monthly fee for using it, it is very fast

Does the apartment not have any cable ports/hookups at all? You only need 1 hook up cable, internet and phone. One cable line out to a splitter so one goes to internet modem and the other goes to cable. If there is no cable at all in the apartment you need to speak to management immediately.
