she started a gender studies class 2 months ago and last night she called me for the first time since then. she addressed me as "patriarch" instead of dad and told me she works at a brothel.

Dunno. Maybe she thinks it's 'empowering'. Probably easier work than doing a 9 to 5 at Taco Bell.
