Last sentence of my Hamlet paper for English. "However, at a grave cost, a cost at which he paid with the very substance that took the one whom requested avenge." Is "the one who requested avenge" right? Or should I simply say "the King"?

It must be "the one who took", not "the one whom took". The concepts swept up into your sentence are very complex, and would probably make sense only in the context of your whole article.
