A floating boat that weights 10 tonnes will displace 20 cubic meters of water (a bit less if the water is ocean). Since the boat is larger than that, and the hull keeps the water out, the water pushes up on the boat.

The amount of water they displace. The weight of the boat is equal to the amount of water it displaces. Peace.
