Is not 2 years a very short time for a dental crown to fail (i.e. crack)?

    Yes, two years is quite short in my opinion. However, it depends on what kind of material you used for your crown. I've heard that PFM crowns' porcelain may chip with time, but those are the cheapest and are covered by insurance.

    Yes...they cost a lot..they should last more than that.

    go back to the dentist that set the crown and ask about WARRANTY.

    Yes and no. Gold will not crack, but porcelin certainly can, and will, if you chomp heavily on something the wrong way ( i e create some bad torque).
