Both are expressions which are equal.

These are expressions, not equations; you need an =. There's no 'correct' way. Either expression is OK; they both share the same value.

The two things you mention are the same number, i.e. they are equal. However, neither is an equation, since neither contains an equal sign. You could call them expressions Note also: -3+5 = 5-3, 7x-3= -3+7x, and generally a-b=-b+a.

Both are correct but the 2nd one is the one that is usually used.

Both are correct, but -3 + 9√2 removes the uncertainty of what is under the radical. 9√2 - 3 *could* be erroneously interpreted as 9√(2 - 3).
