No, because they come up with more and more absurd claims. So, to admit the Earth is an oblate spheroid would be to admit they were so wrong about so much.

Yes, but not very oblate. If the Earth were the size of a basket ball (9.55 inches diameter) it would only be about .016 inches bigger at the "equator" than at its "poles". I doubt anyone could see that difference.
