for work i currently wear a suit and it is a slimmer/skinnier fit so it can cause discomfort with my underwear, would it be uncomfortable/unhygienic if i was to go commando at work, there is also a chance of a sneaky erection if it rubs too much??

Not unless you want to dry clean that suit every day. You will stink if you don't.

Yes you can, I have. I haven't worn any underwear since I was 15 and I've never had any problems.
