I wouldn't turn my back on one or people would call me Stumpy. Their jaws are among the strongest in all of the animal kingdom. They prefer to flee from us but if you corner or anger one, you'll wish you hadn't. Their canine teeth are very long and sharp.

A human can bite a finger off. A hyena can bite through much larger bones.

It certainly COULD...I've watched one chewing an antelope's bones in SA, it crunched them with ease. It has a much more powerful bite than a lion.

It sure can! Hyenas kill an animal on the run and eat every bit of it, even the skull. When they're done there's nothing left but a puddle of blood and maybe the hooves and antlers or horns.
