Why is smoke bad for your lungs, but steam is good?

Isn't steam just smoke with water inside it? And do banyas(dry saunas) have smoke in them?

If the sauna is heated with burning things, that would be bad for you. If the sauna has an electric heater, the danger is staying too long and getting too hot, or touching the heater and getting burned.

Well in general, inhaling anything in that manner is not healthy unless its medicine etc but smoke contains chemicals

Steam is merely water vapor. Smoke is a concoction of gasses and particulates most of which can be harmful to the body.

SMOKE has all kinds of irritating particles and POISONOUS gasses in it---do you REALLY WANT to impose that on your delicate lungs ? STEAM is merely HEATED WATER and nothing else.

the impuirities in smoke get stuck in your lungs steam is just water... and normally cleaner than the burning material. tobacco and pot contain cancer causing materials also... most water is cleaner... H2O

steam is not great for your lungs (if water pools in your lungs thats bad) ...but its not as bad as smoke.

Smoke is particulate matter, steam is nothing but water and absorbed. Dry saunas are just heated with a set humidity to make you sweat.

Smoke is fire and steam is water. Burning isn't good. Adding more is good.

Smoke is burning/burned carbon particles. Steam is water vapor. Two completely different things.

The smoke from cigarettes and other substances carries carcinogens created by burning them. Steam is just vaporized water. That said, you can injure yourself by inhaling really hot steam.
