If Mars' atmosphere is pretty much all CO2 then why isn't Mars hot like Venus?

Venus has a runaway greenhouse effect because of all the CO2 in the atmosphere

Because Mars' atmosphere is very, very, very diffuse.

Much thinner atmosphere and further away.

The density of Mars's atmosphere is much lower; Mars = .006 bar vs Venus = 92 bar of pressure at the surface of each. http://lasp.colorado.edu/~bagenal/3720/C...

Mars has a lot thinner Atmoshpnere most due to its Gravity, thus Mass Yenus has a really thick atmosphere replenished constantly by its Active Volcanoes Closer to the Sun its temperature would melt lead Hell on Earth it has been described as

much thinner atmosphere (Venus: 97 X Earth; Mars 0.008% Earth) and much further from Sun

It's the amount of CO2, along with distance that makes all the difference.

Mars is 4 times further from the sun than Venus, and while Mars has an atmosphere only 1/100th as thick as Earth's, it's only 1/9000th as thick as Venus' atmosphere - so, it has very little ability to retain the sun's heat.

because the atmosphere on Mars is very thin, unlike Venus.

Mars has hardly any atmosphere as its gravity isn't strong enough to keep it down.

It's much farther away from the sun.
