Water fasting at age 14?
5 answers
My friend wants to water fast because they would like to lose weight. They are 14 years old and weigh about 243 pounds. Should they be doing this?

I have fasted several times. Fasting has many health benefits, detoxify, autophagy (self eating old damaged cells) rejuvenation, and removing food addictions. But 14 is a bit young, so I cant really recommend it.

"Water fasting" is stupid at any age (except in a few very specific situations, when asked by a physician, for reasons which are not weight loss), but advising it to a 14 year old would be also be criminal. This could even have long-term consequences.

No, they shouldnt, fasting can only be done for a few days. not a significant weight loss will take place.

Not without medical supervision. Anyone srarting a major diet needs to have a health check. Children (i.e. not a fully grown adult) should never duet without medical advice as it can affect growth and development.

Water fasting is a fad and a waste of time.
