Making assumptions about where parentheses should be, 4^(x + 2) = 2^(2x + 2) (2^2)^(x + 2) = 2^(2x + 2) 2^(2x + 4) = 2^(2x + 2) 2x + 4 = 2x + 2 2x - 2x + 4 = 2x - 2x + 2 4 = 2 which is false so there is no soluion

Do you mean 4^x+2, or 4^(x+2) ? 2^2x+2, or 2^(2x)+2, or 2^(2x+2) ?

4^x + 2 = 2^2x + 2 4^x = 4x x = 1/2
