That's such a tough question...in denial, I guess? Because at least that way, you still have control over your own thoughts, which I think is the most important thing.

Being brainwashed is the same as denial like for instance religious nut jobs are brainwashed by mind controlling people which puts them in denial of reality which is widely misunderstood by them.

We are all a little brainwashed but you can never go into denial completely.
