Why is so little energy is lost in rolling as opposed to sliding?

    Frictional force is proportional to velocity. When it is rolling velocity at the contact is almost 0. The energy loss is very smalll. While pulling the surface in contact has velocity of pull. Frictional force is large. We lose more energy.
