All rumours about Area 51 who started all that surly if aliens were in contact with US government Area 51 would bee place to storage UFO craft either given to or retrieved from a crash.

The US government proved to be very bad at lying at the time. The type of test craft they claimed crashed in the desert wasn't actually used for a couple of years after that crash. And they've never given a better explanation of what happened.
