Is the phrase "to be shook up" slang or is it proper English?

To be "shook up" sounds a bit like slang, sort of like the phrase "to be woke" which is definitely slang.

It's completely slang. For one, proper english would be "to be shaken up," and it would still only be proper if it applied something that was physically shaken up, like a can of soda.

It is slang. To be woke is incorrect grammar. It should be "to be awakened" or in the past tense "awoke"

No, it's not 'proper English', but the expression has passed into colloquial use since the issue of the Elvis Presley song 'All Shook Up'.

Relating to the sort of English which I learned in good schools in southern England around 60 years ago, "shook up" is definitely slang.
