Why do black people reffer to all law enforcement officers as “the feds?”?

If the police pull up to a party, they all start shouting “the feds is here!” And “**** the feds.” Do they not realize that it’s usually officers from a local police department they have encounters with? These officers are not federal agents.

They DON'T. Many people of ALL skin colors refer to FEDERAL agents as feds, because it is short for FEDERAL. Practically NO ONE refers to local law enforcement as feds.
