Let x be the number of $1 bills; y of $0.25 coins, then x+y/4=28 4x-y=16 => x=16 y=48

(0.25)(4d - 16) + d = 28 d - 4 + d = 28 2d = 32 d = 16

28 = b + q/4 q = 4b-16 → q/4 = b - 4 28 = b + b - 4 b = 16 You have 16 bills

I don't remember formulas but your answer is: 16 x 1.00 = 16.00 to represent your dollar bills 48 x .25 = 12.00 therefore represent quarters Total comes to 28.00 (16.00 + 12.00 = 28.00) ps: If taking a Math class y not ask your teacher?
