A trick with ratios is to add them together to get the number of parts: 2: 3 has 5 parts. $2,000 dvided by 5 means each part is $400 1st Boy = 2 parts = 2 x $400 = $800 2nd Boy = 3 parts = 3 x $400 = $1200
